How to Block Text Messages on iPhone

Block Texts: Sprint

Sprint manages text blocking by the use of short codes. A short code is special number that is shorter than a regular number. Sprint’s short code is 9999.

You would send a text message to short code 9999 that contains the command to block. Let’s say for example you are receiving a spam message from short code 12345.

You would simply send the message to short code 9999 with the message “block 12345”. If it goes through successfully you should receive the following message:

SprintFreeMsg: Text messages from “12345″ are now blocked.

You can use either Internet Spam Controls or Call & Message Blocking (My Verizon > My Services > Verizon Safeguards).

AT&T Wireless:

AT&T Wireless users should visit Block spam text messages on your wireless phone. Additionally AT&T offers a service called Smart Limits for Wireless, which costs $4.99 per month. It offers a host of features which include: blocking calls and texts, limit purchases, set time restrictions, limit texting and preventing 411 charges.. The blocking features supports up to 30 numbers. Intended to be more of a parental control, but will get the job done when wanting to prevent harassing text or phone calls.
